    Weaning off plaquenil

I've been on plaquenil for 6 months for suspected Sjogren's syndrome (I don't have antibodies for Sjorgren's or Lupus but I do have Hashimoto's and have all the symptoms for Sjorgren's so the rheumatologist suggested a trial of plaquenil). Basically I've been on the drug since January and saw the rheumatologist on Wednesday to see how things are going.

So she is having me start sulfasalazine---- do any of you take this and even better do any of you take this along with plaquenil and/or prednisone because until I can wean myself off the awful prednisone I will be taking all three medicines. Does anyone know if you have to be weaned off Plaquenil? I've been on it for 15 years, for Lupus? Community question Do you have any advice on weaning off of prednisone? I started Placquenil treatment 7 weeks ago, and my doctor wants me to stop taking prednisone.

I do think it's helped with fatigue and muscle pain but it's hard for me to compare to Xmas as when the improvement is so gradual I think it's really hard to notice on a gradual basis. I *think* I'm improving but it's been a gradual process and I said to him that it's quite hard to tell how much of an improvement I'm feeling.

  7. Actually I started on 200 mg per day and about 2 months before tapering off pred, he upped me to 400 mg per day of plaquenil to give it plenty of time to kick in. I was told it helps to minimize the progression of the arthritis and helps to lessen flare ups.

Years ago I took Plaquenil - It worked great at first then My Hair started falling out like a chemo victim after taking for 5 months. Ironic because I've been taking Enbrel for 4 months now and experiencing problems of flu like symptoms for 2-3 days after every shot. I recently decided to stop taking Plaquenil because I was having constant chest pains even more so than I usually have due to Lupus. Since I have not taken it my chest feels so much better which is odd because chest pain is not listed as a side effect. Hi everybody! I recently went to the doc and he recommended that I try cutting my Plaquenil in half from 400mg to 200mg/day. I have been on it since March, 2002. It's been about a week and I have noticed a few slight changes, mainly a little stiffness in my fingers and feeling a little fatigued. I don't know
