This drug is also effective at preventing lupus flares. My rheumatologist was going to give me Plaquenil but he decided it wouldn't be suitable for me due to having problems in the past with my retina so he has put me on methotrexate and that seems to be helping my joints a little. Also it does seem to be making me feel warmer & is seems to be helping my Raynaud's. I am on both methotrexate and plaquenil. I have been on plaquenil for over a year and a half and methotrexate since September. I have had no side effects from either one. I get my eyes checked every six months and I am now at once a month on blood work for my liver enzymes used to be every 2 weeks. Recently my eyes have felt sore and, after posting a question on this site, I am seeing my GP on Monday. Thanks Hi Catjones I have been taking this combination, started on both of them in January this year.
